- ground beef: 1 pound
- yellow onion, finely chopped: 1
- garlic, finely chopped: 2 cloves
- tomato sauce: 8 ounces
- tomato paste: 1 tablespoon
- ketchup: ¼ cup
- dark brown sugar: ¼ cup
- red pepper flakes, crushed: 1 pinch
- buns (optional, may be gluten-free variety): 6
<strong>Step 1: </strong> In a large skillet add the beef, onion, and garlic and cook over medium heat until the meat is cooked through.
<strong>Step 2:</strong> Stir in the tomato sauce, paste, ketchup, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Bring the mixture to a summer and cover, stirring occasionally. The mixture should reduce by almost half in about 20 minutes.<br />
