Kate Hudson was born to Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn and her then-husband Bill Hudson. Shortly after Kate was born, they divorced. Goldie and her beau, actor Kurt Russell, moved Kate and her brother Oliver (“Rules of Engagement”) to Colorado where they were raised. Kate has often shared that she considers Kurt as her father. She said of her close relationship with her mom, describing Goldie as: “the woman that I’ve learned the most from, and who I look up to, who has conducted her life in a way that I can look up to”.
Kate began modeling and acting, working hard to earn her way on her own and not because of her famous parents. She landed two film roles, “200 Cigarettes” and “Desert Blue”. She then convinced writer/director Cameron Crowe to cast her in the role of Penny Lane in “Almost Famous”, a movie that was almost scrapped because the actress intended to play the character decided to go with another project. Cameron was considering casting Kate as William’s stewardess sister (the role that went to Zooey Deschanel) instead. It was a good thing for Kate that Cameron loved her as Penny, as the role launched her career and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
That same year she married The Black Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson.
In 2004 the couple welcomed their first child, Ryder Russell Robinson.
Kate continued her success with a string of successful romantic comedy films such as “Raising Helen”, “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days”, and “Fools Gold”.
In 2007 Kate and Chris divorced, but remain very close for the sake of their son.
In spring of 2010 she started dating Muse front man Matthew Bellamy. In November, they confirmed they were expecting a baby together. In April, Matt proposed and Kate announced their engagement during the promotion of her new movie “Something Borrowed”.
The couple welcomed a son, Bingham Hawn Bellamy on July 9th, 2011.
